STCW – Medical First Aid
General information
In the Medical First Aid training, seafarers learn how to treat medical emergencies on board when direct assistance from shore is not available. MFA covers basic first aid (wounds, CPR). This course complies with international STCW standards (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers).
Who is the training intended for?
This training is intended for:
Officers and crew members on ships operating within or outside territorial waters, who are responsible for medical care on board.
Admission requirements
You are a current or former student of the KZV or GZV.
A valid Basic Safety certificate is required to participate.
Course content
The course lasts two days; the topics covered during these two days are:
Physical examination
CPR
Wound care
Transport of casualties
Vital signs
