Marcom B (ROC) – 5 daagse cursus
General information
The Marcom B course prepares you for your VHF certificate in three days.
The Marcom B certificate consists of a practical part and a theoretical part. In the five-day course, we cover both the practical and theoretical components, concluding with a practical exam.
- All theoretical exams for maritime radio communication are administered by the CBR.
You are responsible for scheduling the Marcom theoretical exams yourself at a CBR location. - If you already hold a basic VHF certificate, you may choose to attend only the 2nd and 3rd lesson days.
- If you have held your basic VHF certificate for years and wish to refresh your knowledge, you are welcome on the first day. You will retain your exam exemption.

Course content
The course lasts three days, with the exam on the fourth day. The topics covered are:
Day 1 morning - Course materials & questions
Review of questions and additional material from the textbook
Day 1 afternoon - Practical
- EPIRB
- SART
- handheld radios

- hydrostatic release
Day 2 morning - Course material & questions
Review of questions and additional material from the exam question book.
Day 2 afternoon - Practical
- NAVTEX
- DSC
- INMARSAT
Day 3 morning - practical questions
Practical exercises and review of questions
Day 3 afternoon - Practical
- VHF-DSC
- Inmarsat
- MF/HF-DSC
- Telex
Day 4 morning - exam
The practical exam takes place between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
This exam will be held at the school and lasts 30 minutes.
