Safety Training Sailing Vessels
General information
As of July 1, 2026, every officer on board a sailing vessel must hold a Survival Craft and Rescue Boats for Sailing Vessels certificate (or the “Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats” certificate).
We offer the survival craft course at the EZS.
This two-day course focuses on survival craft, sea survival, and crisis management.
Who is the training intended for?
This training is intended for:
- Officers and captains of sailing seagoing vessels 500GT
Admission requirements
You hold a valid Basic Safety Training certificate.
Course content
The course lasts three days; the subjects covered during those four days are:
- Survival craft, life rafts, sea survival
- Crisis Management Human Behavior

Several parts are practical lessons; you must be present and participate in those.
